Frequently Asked Questions

Everything buyers ask us about luxury Sprinter vans, custom conversions, ordering, delivery, financing, and ownership - answered. Don't see your question? Send us a message or call 312.488.9038 and we'll get right back to you.

The Process

It starts with a conversation. We discuss how you'll use the van - travel, business, family, livery - and help you choose a floor plan that fits your lifestyle. Once your build is confirmed, we generate a purchase order for your approval (a deposit may be required prior to build), schedule your van for production at our Elkhart, Indiana factory, and keep you updated through completion and delivery.

Yes. Our inventory always includes completed vans built to our most popular specifications, ready for quick delivery. If you want something tailored to you, a custom build is the way to go.

Lead time depends on the complexity of your configuration and our current production schedule. Vans in inventory can deliver right away; custom builds are scheduled into production slots when your purchase order is confirmed. Contact us for current timing.

In most cases Auto Elite sources a new chassis for your build, which keeps specifications, warranty, and financing clean. If you already own a van you'd like converted, reach out - we're happy to discuss whether it's a good candidate.

Absolutely - we encourage it. Visiting our Elkhart, Indiana facility lets you see builds in progress, feel materials firsthand, and walk through design decisions with the people crafting your van. Elkhart is the RV Capital of the World, and a factory visit is the best education a buyer can get.

Yes. Schedule a visit to our showroom at 3200 Middlebury Street, Elkhart, Indiana to tour current builds and inventory. If you can't make it to Indiana, we can walk you through vans by video and provide detailed photos of any vehicle.

Customization & Models

Nearly everything: floor plan, seating count and style, bathroom configuration, galley, power systems, lighting, entertainment, fabrics, woods, and exterior treatments. Our model lineup is the starting point, and each model can be tailored to your specification.

The numbers are the wheelbase in inches. A 144 is easier to park and drive in town; a 170 (and the even longer 170 Extended) gives you substantially more interior space for bathrooms, storage, and seating. We wrote a full guide: Sprinter 144 vs. 170.

Yes. Alongside our Sprinter lineup we build Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster conversions, which can be excellent platforms depending on budget and use.

We do. The Mobility Sprinter pairs a powered wheelchair lift and accessible interior with the same luxury finish as the rest of our lineup - mobility without compromise.

Yes - it's a specialty. Our executive shuttles, 15 Passenger Coach, and mobile office builds serve hotels, sports teams, corporate fleets, and livery operators. Commercial buyers should also read about potential tax advantages.

Many of our owners travel with pets, and our Eco Evolution and Eco Revolution models were designed with pet-friendly travel in mind - durable surfaces, climate control that doesn't depend on idling, and easy-clean materials. Tell us about your companion and we'll plan for them.

Yes - with the right systems. Lithium house batteries, solar, and alternator charging let a well-built van run climate, refrigeration, and electronics without hookups. Our solar-focused Eco line is built exactly for this. See the glossary for the technology explained in plain English.

Delivery & Ownership

Your choice: we can arrange enclosed or flatbed transport to your door, have a professional driver deliver it, or - our favorite - welcome you to Elkhart for a factory pickup and full orientation. We deliver anywhere in the USA.

All the time. Auto Elite vans are delivered nationwide - from Los Angeles to Boston, Seattle to Miami. The full buying process can be handled remotely: consultation, design, approvals, financing, and white-glove delivery to your driveway.

Plan on roughly 9 to 10 feet of height with roof equipment, which rules out most parking garages but fits surface lots, RV-friendly venues, and many commercial doors. The 144 wheelbase fits a standard parking space lengthwise; the 170 takes a bit more planning.

The Mercedes-Benz chassis (or Ford/Ram, depending on your van) is serviced at any of the manufacturer's dealers nationwide, just like any other vehicle from that brand. The conversion systems are supported by Auto Elite - call us first and we'll point you the right way.

Your first call should always be to Auto Elite. We'll help diagnose the issue, verify whether it falls under the chassis warranty or the conversion coverage, and either handle it ourselves or coordinate the right repair facility so you're back on the road quickly.

Most owners insure through carriers that understand motorhomes and high-value conversions; commercial users need policies matched to livery or business use. Your build sheet documents the van's full specification and value - insurers will ask for it.

It depends on the build and your state. Camper-equipped builds often title as motorhomes, while executive seating builds typically remain passenger vans. Your state DMV makes the final determination - we provide the documentation you'll need either way.

Pricing, Financing & Taxes

It depends on chassis, floor plan, and systems - a solar-powered RV build and an executive limousine are priced very differently. We published an honest industry overview: How Much Does a Luxury Sprinter Van Conversion Cost? For a real number on a real van, request a quote.

Yes. Many buyers finance through RV and specialty lenders with terms structured for conversion vehicles. Start with our financing application and we'll help from there.

Many business buyers deduct a substantial portion of a qualifying van's cost under Section 179 and bonus depreciation rules - vans over 6,000 pounds GVWR used for business often qualify. See our tax savings overview, then confirm specifics with your tax professional.

We're always happy to discuss your current vehicle as part of the deal. Tell us what you have and we'll go from there.

Why Auto Elite

Every van is crafted at our factory at 3200 Middlebury Street in Elkhart, Indiana - the RV Capital of the World, where America's deepest pool of coachbuilding craftspeople lives and works.

Engineering and accountability: seating and restraints built to federal safety standards, electrical and plumbing systems designed as a whole, documented build sheets, warranty support, and resale value that DIY builds rarely achieve. You also get it years sooner - a DIY build commonly consumes a year of weekends.
